Fremd Football started their 2025 campaign with a 35-3 rout at home vs Lake Zurich. Coming off a historic 9-2 season last year, the Vikings picked up right where they left off. Senior QB and Northwestern commit Johnny O’Brien threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with WR/DB Marquan Brewster for two of them. Brewster’s interception on the first defensive series of the season was a sign of what was to come: Fremd’s defense was the X-factor of the night, forcing three turnovers and holding the Bears’ offense to zero touchdowns for the second consecutive season.
After a dominant 1st week performance, Fremd Football didn’t miss a beat in their 55-6 win vs. Buffalo Grove this past Friday. O’Brien’s rushing touchdown a little over three minutes into the game gave the Vikings an early lead, and they never looked back. O’Brien once again threw for three touchdowns, this time all going to different pass catchers (Jason Hardy, Ben Riddle, and Brewster). Though the defense gave up their first and only touchdown of the season at the end of the first half, they otherwise had no problems shutting down another opposing offense. The Vikes are 2-0 heading into week 3’s homecoming matchup vs. Evanston, with a potential state run in the air.
